Move your bookkeeping to QuickBooks Online with a clear handoff, reviewed balances, and ongoing support.
OneBooks helps New Jersey business owners switch from Bench to bookkeeping managed in QuickBooks Online. We review your available records, agree on a transition date, identify any catch-up or cleanup work, and establish a starting point for monthly bookkeeping. If your books are already in QuickBooks Online, we assess the existing file before recommending changes.
You do not need to know how to move the records before contacting us. Start with what you have, and we will explain the next steps.
Your bookkeeping needs can change as your business grows. You may want your books maintained in QuickBooks Online, a clearer handoff to your CPA, help resolving unfinished months, or a team that handles both the transition and ongoing bookkeeping.
OneBooks serves New Jersey businesses remotely from its Wyckoff base, including businesses in Bergen County, Essex County, and Passaic, Hudson, and Morris counties and throughout the state. You can share documents and meet with us without arranging an office visit.
Our focus is practical: determine what is complete, establish what still needs attention, and put a workable monthly process in place.
The transition depends on where your books are maintained today and how much historical detail you need in QuickBooks Online.
| Your current situation | How OneBooks approaches the transition |
|---|---|
| Your books are maintained in Bench’s software | Review the reports and exports available to you, then scope the QuickBooks Online setup and historical records needed. |
| Your books are already in QuickBooks Online | Review the existing file, access permissions, reconciliations, and outstanding work before taking over. |
| Some months are unfinished | Define the last completed period and quote the catch-up work needed through the handoff date. |
| Reports contain unexplained balances or inconsistencies | Investigate the supporting records and scope cleanup before relying on those balances. |
| You need records for your CPA soon | Identify the deadline, available documents, and priority periods before agreeing on a schedule. |
Bench currently describes both a proprietary-software service and a service using clients’ existing systems. Your transition should reflect the service you actually use. Source: Bench.
We start with your business structure, accounts, latest completed month, available financial reports, and any upcoming CPA deadlines. We also discuss whether you need detailed historical transactions in QuickBooks Online or a supported opening balance with earlier records retained separately.
The proposal identifies the periods OneBooks will handle, the work required, and the cost. A clear handoff date helps prevent gaps or overlapping entries between providers. We distinguish setup, catch-up, cleanup, and ongoing monthly service so you know what is included.
We provide a document list based on your situation. Before ending access to your existing service, obtain the reports and exports available under your plan and confirm any remaining deliverables directly with Bench.
We organize the accounts and establish supported opening balances. Depending on the agreed scope and source records, historical work may involve importing usable data, recording summary balances, or reconstructing transactions from statements. A complete automatic transfer is not assumed.
We reconcile the accounts covered by the engagement, investigate differences, and review the resulting reports. Unresolved questions are identified for follow-up. Once the agreed transition work is complete, monthly bookkeeping continues from the established handoff point.
Keep copies of the records available to you. Depending on your business and service, these may include:
Not every record will apply, and export options may vary. If something is missing, we will assess whether other supporting documents can fill the gap and explain any effect on the scope or timing.
Use the agreed secure document-sharing process. You do not need to share your online banking password for an initial discussion.
This page focuses specifically on the Bench handoff: collecting records, choosing a transition date, and establishing the books in QuickBooks Online. For the broader recovery process, see our catch-up and cleanup bookkeeping services.
Migration, catch-up, and cleanup are different tasks, and your transition may include more than one.
Migration or setup establishes your bookkeeping in QuickBooks Online or prepares an existing file for the new team.
Catch-up bookkeeping completes months that have not yet been recorded and reconciled. Learn more about New Jersey catch-up bookkeeping.
Cleanup bookkeeping addresses problems in existing records, such as duplicate transactions, inconsistent categories, or unexplained balances. See our QuickBooks cleanup services in New Jersey.
Switching providers does not automatically mean your books need to be rebuilt. We review the records before recommending the work. Our catch-up bookkeeping guide explains the general process when unfinished periods are involved.
Your transition quote depends on the condition of your books, available exports, number of accounts, transaction volume, and historical detail required.
| Service | Pricing approach |
|---|---|
| Transition assessment and QuickBooks Online setup or handoff | Quoted after reviewing the records and scope. |
| Historical catch-up or cleanup | Quoted separately for the periods and issues involved. |
| Ongoing monthly bookkeeping | Typically $300–$700 per month, depending on volume and complexity. |
The proposal will specify the treatment of the QuickBooks Online subscription and any additional work. A transition fee is separate from the monthly bookkeeping fee unless the proposal expressly combines them.
See our monthly bookkeeping services for more about ongoing support.
OneBooks maintains your agreed bookkeeping workflow in QuickBooks Online, including transaction categorization, bank and credit-card reconciliations, and monthly profit and loss and balance sheet reports.
During onboarding, we document QuickBooks Online administrator access, OneBooks’ permissions, and subscription responsibility in your engagement terms. We also discuss authorized access for your CPA so they can review the books and coordinate adjustments.
If your existing arrangement includes tax preparation or another service, confirm who will provide it after the switch. This bookkeeping engagement does not automatically replace those services.
Yes. A midyear transition can work when the last completed period, opening balances, and responsibilities are clearly documented. You do not necessarily need to wait until January. The best handoff date depends on your records and reporting needs.
The amount of history we can bring into QuickBooks Online depends on the records and exports available and the work you authorize. We review those materials first. Some transitions use detailed transactions; others use supported opening balances while retaining earlier reports separately. We explain the approach before work begins.
We assess your existing QuickBooks Online file and permissions. If the file is suitable, the work may focus on the provider handoff, reconciliations, and any unfinished items rather than moving to a new accounting system.
Contact us first so we can discuss the records and handoff you need. Confirm cancellation terms, access after cancellation, remaining work, and any separate services directly with Bench before making the change.
We can assess your bank statements, financial reports, payroll records, and other supporting documents. Missing transaction detail may require additional reconstruction work or limit what can be transferred. We identify those issues before committing to a scope.
Timing depends on document availability, account complexity, the last completed month, and any cleanup required. After reviewing your records, we provide an estimated schedule. An existing, reconciled QuickBooks Online file generally presents a different scope from rebuilding historical periods.
Yes. With your authorization, we can coordinate on the handoff, opening balances, prior adjustments, and financial reports your CPA needs. Tax filing and tax advice remain with your tax professional unless separately arranged.
